About

The Yngling is a small racing keelboat (6.35 m (21') LOA, 645 kg. (1422 lbs.)), succinctly described as an agreeable cross between a planing dinghy and a keelboat. Its design is classic, and its construction is durable.

The Yngling was designed by Jan Linge of Norway in 1967 with his young son in mind.  Linge had earlier designed the Soling and the Yngling is described as a "mini-Soling".  In the Yngling (pronounced "ING-ling"), Jan Linge basically duplicated his Soling, making it smaller, more suitable for average-sized people, easier to trail, and less expensive to own.

The boat is for a 3 crew, although two can handle it easily.  The rig is fractional with a Mainsail, non overlapping Jib and Spinnaker.

The Yngling is an International class and has racing fleets across three Continents - Europe, USA and Australia. A World Championship Regatta is staged every year in a different country.

In Australia the Ynglings home of racing is at the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron at Kirribilli, NSW. The class association is based at the RSYS.
