King Haaekon Round 1

Round 1 of the 2014 King Haakon regatta was sailed on Saturday February 1 in a light south easter.  Ten boats are entered for the series that is being held over two weekends.  AUS59 Evie (Karyn Gojnich, Ruth McCance and Helen Impey) currently lead with a 1-2-1 result over AUS60 Miss Pibb (Hamish Jarret, Max Hayman and Alana Bracken).

Racing was challenging with the largest outgoing tide for the year running across the course, and two breeze directions, struggling for dominance.  The race committee did a great job setting the mean direction around 130 degrees.

Leading the handicap point score is AUS34 (Jan Newland, Barb Jones and Warrick Back), followed by AUS43 Meridian and AUS57 Soria.

Tracks for the Round 1 racing can be found here. The series will be decided on Saturday Feb 15.
