It is with heavy heart that we must say farewell to Pat Warn, a life member of the International and Australian Yngling Associations. Pat at the helm opened up participation for women in what was then known as “Helmsmen = men”, especially in keel boats. Pat always sailed with her loving sister, Joyce.
Both Pat and Joyce have played an enormous role in growing and administering this class not only in Australia but around the world.
They have also been an inspiration to so many people in the world of sailing and have brought countless people into the sport that we all love over the past sixty years. Joyce will continue on supporting sailing in the “Joyce and Pat Way” with her sister always in her mind.
I hope that as many of you as possible will be able join us to celebrate Pat and her contribution to the class and the sport. A celebration of her life will be held at the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron on Tuesday 5 May from 12:00PM to 2:00PM.
